Exion Corp showcased the BLACKRHINO Mini, a fully automatic channel letter bending machine for smaller ‘mini’ letters, produced using aluminium and stainless steel coils, during the recently held FESPA Africa And Sign Africa Expo.

Visitors could either collect the machine-made sample letters from the Exion stand, or if they had specific letters that they wished to have fabricated, they could bring along their vector files.

Numerous LED modules available in different wattages, angles and colours (edgelit and mini, as well as the company’s renowned Street Warrior products) were also showcased. Also on display were the traditional backing and trim cap system, trimless return system, dual illumination channel letter system, FM profile letter system and foamboard backing systems.

Additionally, visitors could see Exion’s sensors, fittings, drivers and PSUs, alongside its aluminium composite materials, and abcMIX modular illuminated letters.

Digital-Wall Wallpaper Paste Products

These products are for use on eco solvent, solvent, Latex and UV printers. They produce high image quality and excellent full colour prints, with solid blacks and the face is ‘white-white’ and not cream or off-white, which makes calibration easier.

The Digi-Wall Ngcono Range (which includes Kalahari, Sahara and Namibia) is antimicrobial treated for resistance to mould and mildew and is ideal for use in hospitals and health centres.

It is Class A ASTME-84 Certified and achieves the industry’s most stringent fire ratings. It has a PVC face film with textile back – 340g/sqm; and is suitable for indoor use up to five years. PLEXIGLAS® Products

PLEXIGLAS® ENLIGHTEN is a 92% light transmitting, transparent light diffusing and LED optimised clear extruded (XT) acrylic glass (PMMA) sheet for edge lighting. The sheets have versatile indoor and outdoor applications. They are used in interior decoration, shop decoration, tradeshow booths, various lighting displays, lighting advertisements, lighting signs and engraving.

PLEXIGLAS® LED acrylic sheet (PLEXI GS 5mm LED OPAL WH52 600 x 600mm) ensures maximum transmittance of the light, enabling fluent and fascinating colour change effects and preventing disturbing hotspots. The white or coloured light-diffusing sheets are optimised for backlighting or edge lighting with LEDs.

PLEXIGLAS® GS acrylic sheets (PLEXI GS SOLID WHITE WH06 3050 x 2050mm) comes in thicknesses of 3, 5 and 10mm, and is used as a secondary glazing material, or for poster or picture framing, model making, fabricated items, signs, displays, shelving and DIY applications.

PLEXIGLAS® XT acrylic sheet (PLEXI GREY 7A670 GT) is used for glazing in industrial applications, furniture making, shopfitting, exhibition booth construction, illuminated advertising, illuminated objects and displays.

Visitors can also see heat transfer demonstrations with Poli-Flex Reflective and Turbo materials; as well as Grafiprint M231HT (Smeriglio), a monomeric, white, structured matt self-adhesive vinyl with a high tack clear adhesive suitable for indoor wall decorations.

Also being showcased will be Aluminium Lightbox Profiles and LED’s, directional signage profiles, and Rowmark Colour Hues and laser and engraving material.

Excel LED showcased its screens from 13-15 September at the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa Expo, which was held at Gallagher Convention Centre. 

The company manufactures and customises LED screens, as well as stages and tool boxes, and provide rental and installation services. They also provide waterproof screens for outdoor events.

At the stand visitors could find a mini P1.8 screen for indoor fixed installation, a Magic Series rental screen for events, H Series for indoor fixed installations (such as churches), a digital pull-up banner/poster screen, as well as the company’s logo screen.

Exion Corp announced a partnership with abcMIX during the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa Expo, which ran from 13-15 September at Gallagher Convention Centre. With headquarters in Shenzhen, China, abcMIX is a leading LED signage and sign board manufacturer of creative, quality and custom LED signage that helps small to large businesses grow.

Part of abcMIX’s portfolio includes magnetic LED letter signs and power supply units, which were showcased during the expo.

Jay Kim, CEO of Exion Corp, said that the letter signs are not just for the shop owner, but the sign maker who doesn’t always have time to fabricate letters, especially small letters. He said that as it is a ready-made product, it has the advantage of combining letters, being reasonably priced, as well as allowing for various DIY installation and application options. These include pendant type wiring from the ceiling, back mounting, and a free standing type on the counter or window.

‘It is good for the South African market, which needs signage urgently,’ said Kim.

The FESPA Africa and Sign Africa Expo, held from 13-15 September at Gallagher Convention Centre, was bustling with many returning visitors per day, while exhibitors set social media alight with their stand videos and pictures. Bells were ringing on stands with sales being made, and the overall feedback illustrated an extremely good looking expo with a diversity of products and thousands of brands on exhibit.

The expo attracted 4735 visitors from 18 countries, a 15% increase from 2022. The top ten countries that visited outside South Africa were Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Eswatini, Malawi, DRC and Ghana. The event was sponsored by Platinum sponsors Roland DG South Africa and Stixo Signage Supplies.

Visitors could see new products and business opportunities in the world of graphics, signage, digital printing, branding, T-shirt printing, mug printing, vehicle graphics, laser engraving, binding equipment, digital packaging solutions, wide format printing and more.

Exhibitors Had Positive Feedback About The Event:

‘The show was wonderful. We had a steady flow of customers, especially on day two. The quality of customers that came through was really good. We were very excited to see quite a few Namibian customers, which is great for us because we are looking at growing that market. In terms of the exposure, and getting the Kolok, HEXIS and NUtec names out there, it was a great show. We are looking forward to next year,’ said Illze Bester, Kolok.

‘This was one of the best shows. We saw guys from Namibia and Angola. We got quite a number of leads. Some of the visitors were starting to buy, we were giving out quotations,’ said Aron Mudau, Curv.

‘It was excellent for us, and we will definitely be back next year,’ said Elke Brink, DTF Africa.

‘We had a very positive response. The assistance from the organisers was absolutely fantastic,’ said Ronelle Van Reenen, Beith Cape Town.

‘It was very good. There was a lot of interest, a lot of people walking through, a lot of new technology around, and an interesting show,’ said Dirk Vogt, Colorscreen.

‘It was a good three days. Not only did we have an opportunity to chat to our customers but there were a lot of exhibitors that came through from other countries like China. There were a lot of new customers, and a lot of cross border customers,’ said Thomas Smith, Falcon SA.

‘I was very impressed, this was probably one of our best shows to date. We had a lot of interest at the stand,’ said Tristan Woodman, Skyco.

‘The exhibition was amazing. We reached our target and we met many people. We got many calls and got many clients, who were already buying,’ said Hope Sebola, Excel LED.

‘The show was amazing. It was the first time we were at FESPA Africa and I was blown away. We had so much interest, I am definitely going to be back next year,’ said Darryl Curtis, Cover Styl’ South Africa.

‘It was an adrenaline rush, and it was amazing. It was so well organised, and so professional. We were honoured to be part of it, to be able to get exposure for our product was fantastic,’ said Lizelle Jacobs, Signbox.

‘The new printers that we brought in were very well received. We sold the majority of them off the stand,’ said Josh Carstens, MIPS Technologies.
