Roland DG South Africa has announced it will launch the new TrueVis VG4-540 and VG4-640 eco-solvent print and cut devices at the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa Expo. The event is taking place from 8-10 September 2026, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, at Gallagher Convention Centre.

The new TrueVis VG4-540 and VG4-640 combine class-leading image quality with advanced automation, intuitive operation, and lower running costs. The series delivers refined image quality through high-precision ink droplet control and advanced colour processing, producing sharper detail, smoother gradients, and accurate, repeatable colour reproduction.

With this launch, Red and Light Black TR3 inks become available for both the TrueVis VG4 Series and the TrueVis XG-640, extending colour expression and enabling more precise brand colour matching, richer mid-tones, and improved neutral greys. Existing ink options including Orange, Green, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, and White continue to support vibrant, high-definition output across a wide range of applications.

The result is exceptional colour matching, vibrant brand colours, and high-definition output across a wide range of applications, from signage and posters to vehicle wraps, window graphics, labels, and decals. White ink performance has also been significantly enhanced, delivering higher density and faster output for premium layered and backlit graphics.

Designed to keep production moving, the TrueVis VG4 Series introduces multiple workflow innovations that reduce setup time, minimise downtime, and simplify day-to-day operation.

Users can start printing directly from the printer’s control panel, removing unnecessary trips between RIP workstation and device. With Roland DG Connect, jobs can also be managed remotely, from preparing output and monitoring status to starting prints, even when away from the production floor. The TrueVis VG4 Series ships with VersaWorks 7, Roland DG’s latest RIP software for Windows and macOS. Featuring faster processing, native PDF 2.0 support, advanced colour tools, and variable data printing, VersaWorks 7 helps users achieve accurate, repeatable results, even on complex jobs, whilst simplifying colour matching and media profile creation.

Accurate media setup is simplified through stored media presets that can be recalled at the touch of a button, helping operators achieve consistent results with minimal adjustment. Long-run print and cut workflows are supported by an included take-up unit and perforation sheet cut function, reducing finishing time and enabling efficient unattended operation.

The VG4 Series is engineered for efficiency. Improved ink utilisation and optimised print modes deliver up to 30% lower ink consumption compared to competitor devices, while enhanced self-maintenance allows users to replace key components themselves, reducing service downtime.

The TR3 inks, compatible with both the TrueVis XG and VG4 Series, are GBL-free and supplied in cardboard-based cartridges, supporting Roland DG’s commitment to sustainability. MIPS And Hitech Graphics Launch Sign And Display Printer

MIPS and Hitech Graphics launched the new Mutoh XpertJet 1682SR solvent printer at the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa Expo, held at Gallagher Convention Centre from 13-15 September.

Creating durable prints on coated and uncoated substrates up to 162.5cm (63.97”), Mutoh’s 8-colour XpertJet 1682SR printer has been developed for high quality volume production of sign and display graphics.

The printer produces posters, backlit signage, wall coverings, point-of-sale displays, fine art reproductions, vehicle graphics, stickers and much more. The XPJ-1682SR can be configured in both 2 x 4 CMYK or in an 8C (C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm, Lk, Or) setup. While the 2 x 4 setup is oriented at volume/speed production, the 8C setup will allow users to say yes to a wider range of applications.

The orange ink will allow users to produce a new range of reds, oranges and yellows. Thanks to the Lc and Lm inks, the lighter colours, especially skin tones and colour gradients, will come out perfectly. The Light Black ink offers the advantage that grey gradients are printed much better and without any colour shift. This machine delivers 66sqm/h – top speed.

The XPJ-1341WR Pro is compatible with Mutoh’s genuine DS3-series HC dye sub inks. The increased colourant means reduced ink consumption, faster drying and compatibility with lightweight papers. The DS-3 inks come in degassed 1kg pouches for reliable jetting, excellent image definition and sharpness. The XPJ-1341WR Pro delivers sellable production speeds up to 29.2sqm/h. SwissQprint Celebrates Milestone During Showcase Of Flatbed And Roll To Roll Printers

SwissQprint, in collaboration with its global distribution network, showcased developments in flatbed and roll to roll printing.

Beyond inspiring demonstrations of applications and machines, at FESPA, the Swiss manufacturer showed how its customers unite commercial success with environmental protection. The company moreover celebrated shipping the 1000th unit of its successful Nyala model.

Flatbed generation 4

The Oryx, Impala (2.5 x 2m) and Nyala (3.2 x 2m) flatbed printers are well known for their high output quality, efficiency and huge versatility. SwissQprint’s fourth-generation models use the latest printheads with a maximum resolution of 1350dpi. The printers’ modular design – including a roll to roll option – along with special inks such as neon, white and varnish, all working in concert to enable the wide range of applications. FESPA visitors could enter a special room to experience the neon inks’ powerful impact – they fluoresce under black light.

Karibu 2 roll to roll printer

The Karibu dedicated roll to roll printer (3.4m wide) is also in to its second generation featuring the latest printhead technology. What makes this printer interesting for users keen to differentiate themselves from the mainstream market are its special capabilities, for example neon, varnish, white and relief printing. Then there are unique efficiency-oriented features: the cassette system for quick loading of rolls, Tip Switch Vacuum for fine-tuned vacuum control, and multilayer mode for registration accuracy while overprinting various layers.

Kudu

This is the only swissQprint printer featuring 10 colour channels and up to 30 print heads. Its ink configuration options are a touch more varied relative to the other swissQprint models, which with their nine colour channels are very versatile already. Audiences at the stand were impressed not only by Kudu’s print quality, but also its productivity – up to 304sqm/h, and that for both flatbed and optional roll to roll printing (3.2m).

1000 Nyala flatbed printers

In May 2023, swissQprint sold the 1000th unit of its Nyala model. There were celebrations both at its headquarters and among the trade fair team in Munich, including distribution partners. Nyala has been swissQprint’s flagship model for over a decade, winning a variety of awards along the way.
