Compete in 3 easy steps!
1. Register up to 3 of your best wrappers by completing the registration form and your registration will be confirmed with your time slot.
2. Or register at the expo on the day.
3. Visit the Expo and wrap a door in 10 minutes to the best standards.

The CorelDRAW workshop is free of charge brought to you by CorelDRAW distributed by DDS and Gencotech. Attend the workshop and you can go into the daily lucky drawer for CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2017, with one lucky winner walking off with the grand prize which includes a Wacom drawing tablet and a mobile Porsche designed hard drive from LaCie .

 

 

 

 

 

Mohammed Jogie has studied fine art and graphic design. He has worked on numerous international brands. He is head creative juicer at MSD and is also principal of Mzansi Creative Foundation. A design activist, he is an admin on AIGAfrica – a collaboration with AIGA New York and South African graphic designers. He has served as Vice President of Icograda and served on the boards Think, DSA and Cafe. He is a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers and the London City and Guilds. He is a project lead on the Mandela Poster Project Collective and MSDOpen design innovators initiative.

These workshops are open to all visitors without reservation or cost.

Technical Textile Talks

Charlie Taublieb 13, 14 & 15 September, hall 1 at 11am and 2pm, daily.

11am Intro to Screenprinting & 2pm Special Effects in T-Shirt Screenprinting

This garment feature will be a hands-on workshop where printers can learn different techniques to decorate garments. These comprise of heat transfers, direct-to-garment (DTG) and screen-printing applications, including discharge and special effects, all taught by Charlie Taublieb who has been in the screen printing industry since 1976, and heads up Taublieb Consulting in Greenwood Village, Colorado, a company specializing in technical screen printing consulting for textile printers. The topics being covered by Charlie will be Intro to Screenprinting and Special Effects in T-Shirt Screenprinting.

 

Dr Nicholas Hellmuth 13, 14 & 15 September, hall 1 at 12pm, daily.

Dr Nicholas Hellmuth is the founder, President, and Director of FLAAR. A Harvard graduate, Nicholas has spent many decades working in Latin America. He will be talking about the future of textile printing and the opportunities that exist.

Free demonstrations by local experts on T-shirts and bags with speciality printing techniques, direct to transfer and screen printing. Pop into hall 1 during the 3 expo days and get tips and tricks, ask our local experts questions.

Enter The T-Shirt Design Competition

Design A Dare To Discover Themed Tee Competition FESPA Africa & Sign Africa

Designers are invited to post their “Dare To Discover” themed t-shirt on the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa Facebook pages.

Caption should include the hashtag “#FESPAAfrica”/ “#SignAfricaExpo”, the “Dare To Discover” line.

Entries close on 10 September 2017.

Entrants need to get as many likes as possible by 10 September 2017 (5pm).

The top 15 designs will be printed and showcased at the show. These designs will be printed and displayed onsite for the public vote.

Competition rules:
Submitted designs should:
– Comprise of the “Dare To Discover” theme.

– Post their designs on either the FESPA Africa or Sign Africa Facebook page.

– Facebook posts caption should include the words “Dare To Discover” along with the hashtag “#FESPAAfrica”/ “#SignAfricaExpo”.

– Get as many likes as possible for their design to be printed and showcased at the FESPA Africa and Sign Africa expo.

FUJIFILM DESIGN CHALLENGE Prize Giving

The prize giving will take place at the FESPA Africa & Sign Africa Expo to be held at Gallagher Convention Centre at 11h00 (South African time) on 15 September 2017.

All 9 winners (Top 3 in each category) designs will be displayed at the Expo.
Expo visitors will be given an opportunity to select an additional winner from the Designs displayed on the Fujifilm stand by voting for their favourite entry on the voting slip received at Expo registration and placing it in the box designated for this purpose on the Fujifilm stand.
The Design Challenge entrant with the most votes will win a meal voucher at a pre-selected Japanese restaurant.

The votes from the expo visitors will also be entered into a lucky draw to win a FUJIFILM Instax Mini 8 Backpack Bundle (worth R1400.00)
